Our Approach

Delivery

Precision Training has a network of contract trainers throughout NZ which means that training can be delivered in any location required.

If requested by the client, we can also deliver the training at weekends or to fit with shift times.

Precision Training is committed to achieving learning outcomes and believes that the best way to achieve this is by tailoring the learning material to the learner needs as much as possible.  Precision Training works with its clients to develop case studies, role plays and exercises specific to their industry. We have writers/researchers who will take our material and adapt it as required.

Training is scheduled between 8.30am and 4.30 pm each training day.  If the training finishes earlier, the facilitator will remain in the training room until 4.30pm to provide any individual coaching and support that may be required.  Our facilitators are also available outside of the training room by email or phone to support the learnings.

Facilitators

We have a national team of facilitators based throughout the country.  Our facilitators all have adult education qualifications and/or extensive experience in training adults.  They have all had experience in management roles within a variety of businesses and industry.  We provide them with ongoing professional development in a range of areas.

Learning

Our focus is very much on outcomes, rather than activities.  However, whilst it is outcomes that drive us, we acheive this by the various activities we undertake.  Our various training activities therefore are characterised by the following features:

  • Learning should be fun! Although learning should be treated seriously, there is no reason why the learning process itself should not be enjoyable.  This principle is present throughout our personal interactions.
  • Training is a process rather than an event.  Therefore, our programmes have several stages which last for a period of months, not days. Many of our programmes are in themselves progressive in that competencies must be demonstrated on a consistent basis in the workplace.
  • We have a "learner-centred" focus.  We help people learn rather than teach them.  Therefore the processes of discussion, experimenting, discovery, reflection etc are seen by us as very important.
  • We also understand that people have different learning styles and motivation.  We recognise the various "intelligences", left or right brain dominance and preference for auditory, visual or kinaesthetic learning methods in the design and implementation of our training programmes.
  • Class size is important. All participants need to be involved in the learning, so the maximum number of any class is 16.  We also believe that the dynamic of the group is important, so prefer to have a minimum class size of 8.
